Cardiac insufficiency, cardiomegaly

Case report

A 35-year-old G5P4 presented after an operation for a frontoparietal sarcoma. She was on chemotherapy (Adriamycine). The first and second trimester ultrasound examination were normal. At 30th week of pregnancy the patient presented to our clinic due to lack of the fetal movements. Our ultrasound investigation revealed anhydramnios, abnormal umbilical artery Doppler (PI = 1), cardiomegaly with tachycardia (>180/min). The estimated fetal weight was 800 g. A cesarean section was performed. The baby"s weight was 820 g and died twelve hours after delivery.

We assume a cardiac insufficiency due to placental insufficiency, possibly caused by the Adrimycine"s usage. Here are some of the images we obtained.
