Case report

Here are some images showing a deep transverse cleft through the fetal mouth imitating Tessier cleft. The diagnosis turned out to be the amniotic band syndrome (note the band on the arm).

Images 1, 2: Second trimester scans showing 2D images of the fetal face with transverse cleft going through the mouth.

 

Images 3, 4: Second trimester 2D (image 3) and 3D (image 4) images of the fetal face with transverse cleft going through the mouth.

 

Images 5, 6: Pathological images showing the baby with transverse cleft of the mouth. Remnants of the amniotic band are visible at the lateral end of the cleft.
