What is FTP
FTP stands for file transfer protocol. This is an easier, faster and more reliable process to transfer large files than attaching files to email messages.
If you are not familiar with FTP here is how to do this:
First get a program called WS-FTP: click on this link to get it http:/www.ws-ftp.com/
When you are there, click DOWNLOAD EVALUATION on the top yellow bar
On the new page, look on the right side for PRODUCT. Select the 7th ( WS_FTP LE 5.08 0.7MB 3.1/95/98/NT/2000). The program is free if you use it for educational purposes.
On the left side fill your name etc…
Then click Next and download the program. When it is downloaded, install it (You are my student doing homework...)
When the program is starting it will show a window that says “Session Properties”. Under the “General” tab you can click NEW to start a new profile
When the program is running you will see 2 windows. The left one is your hard disk the right is the FETUS FTP directory. You will see a few directories. Select INCOMING and open it. then you can send files from the left window (your hard drive) to the FTP.
If you want to send a file, select it in the left window and click the arrow between the 2 windows that points to the right (®) If you want to download a file, select it in the right window and click the arrow between the 2 windows that points to the left (¬).
Do send me a message that the file is there.
Happy FTPing !
