This is a second trimester fetus with a ventricular septal defect and a systolic-diastolic shunt. The baby was born at 40 weeks and the diagnosis was confirmed by a postnatal echocardiogram. Note that the communication is really only visible with color Doppler, and that, as is commonly observed it is bidirectional during systole.
